Tsunami Reconstruction Workshop

On Friday April 8 Austrade will hold a half-day tsunami reconstruction workshop at the Hyatt Regency. Austrade is actively supporting businesses wanting to participate in the rebuilding of areas devastated by the tsunamis that struck countries around the Indian Ocean, particularly Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The workshop will provide participants with a detailed understanding of the progress of reconstruction planning, how funds are being disbursed, likely arrangements for contract tendering, identify which agencies will take the lead in coordinating projects, and provide advice on ongoing procurement programs operated by multilateral development agencies, such as World Bank and Asia Development Bank. Speakers at the workshop will include Austrade senior trade commissioner (South Asia) Mike Moignard, Austrade senior trade commissioner (Jakarta) Rod Morehouse, AusAID assistant director general (Australia partner branch) Derek Rooken-Smith, Asian Development Bank alternate executive director Australia Richard Moore, and a representative from the World Bank. Registration for the workshop can be made for $75. For further information phone Austrade on 132 878 or email
