Thick appointed MD at New Standard

New Standard Energy has appointed Phil Thick as managing director following the resignation of former managing director Sam Willis.

Mr Thick, who is currently a non-executive director with the company, will take up the position on 2 April.

Mr Willis will continue to serve as a director of New Standard and advise Mr Thick on the company’s strategic direction.

New Standard chairman Arthur Dixon AM said the board was pleased with the appointment.

“We are delighted that Phil Thick has agreed to become the company’s managing director”.

“It was clear from the moment he joined the board that his interest in, and passion for, the company’s activities made him an outstanding candidate to take a more active role the management of New Standard.

“Mr Thick is a highly qualified and experienced CEO, he has a proven track record of developing and managing growth businesses and has a unique understanding of the Western Australian gas markets and energy space,” he said.

Mr Dixon praised former managing director Sam Willis for his working in growing the company’s Western Australian upstream business.

“We would also like to acknowledge the valuable role that Sam has played in building the company, particularly over the past seven years as managing director.”

“Under Sam’s guidance New Standard has grown into an organisation with a substantial portfolio of valuable assets, world class joint venture partners, a strong balance sheet and an excellent team of people,” he said.
