Swan Taxis launches cashless app update

Swan Taxis has launched an update for its app, which now allows customers to book a cab ride and make automatic cashless payments with the use of a credit card, similar to the service offered by competitor Uber.

The update will allow customers to pre-register a credit card so the fare is automatically charged to the card at the end of the ride.

“Customers can make this cashless payment even if they don’t book the taxi through the app,” the company said in a statement.

“Hail, rank, online, call centre and app bookings can all be paid through the app itself as long as the customer has the app downloaded.”

Another new feature of the app is the ability for a customer to have an electronic receipt emailed to them once payment has been made.

Swan Taxis chief executive See Peng Yeo said the new features were part of the company’s planned progress in delivering global taxi standards to the Perth community.

“Making payments through the app means both the customer and driver don’t have to handle money, which is an industry-wide safer outcome,” he said.

“Customers can now book, hail or even take a taxi from a rank and pay online securely using our state-of-the-art app.”
