RoadCare snares SW contract

PIONEER Road Services Pty Ltd and Fulton Hogan Pty Ltd, through joint venture company RoadCare, have won a ten year contract with Main Roads to maintain around 1,500 kilometres of South West roads.

The $109.3 million contract was the fourth in a series of eight to be awarded for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the State’s road network.

Transport Minister Murray Criddle said RoadCare’s proposal would achieve better value for money through competition, innovation and the transfer of technology.

“It will also help to create local opportunities in employment, training and economic development,” Mr Criddle said.

The announcement of the new negotiated contract with RoadCare came after negotiations with selected tenderer Transfield broke down and RoadCare was invited to commence due diligence and negotiations.

RoadCare is a newly formed partnership between Australian company Pioneer Road Services, already operating in the South West and New Zealand company Fulton Hogan.

Fulton Hogan has experience maintaining the national road network in New Zealand.

A third organisation, international civil consultants Opus, will be contracted to supply engineering support.
