The head of North Queensland Airport Group will soon be flown in to succeed Brad Geatches as chief executive of Perth Airport.

Kevin Brown will take on the new role when Mr Geatches retires in July after nine years in the position.

Mr Brown currently serves as CEO of North Queensland Airport Group, which operates Cairns and Mackay airports.

Prior to his senior role in Australia, he spent nine years with the British Airport Authority, during which time he served as managing director of Edinburgh International Airport.

Perth Airport chairman Colin Beckett said the appointment of Mr Brown represented a new era for the operator.

“Kevin brings a wealth of experience internationally and within the Australian aviation sector and has a successful track record of strategy development and delivery,” Mr Beckett said.

“The board was particularly impressed with Kevin’s leadership capabilities and commitment to growing tourism, an area of focus and opportunity in Western Australia.”

Mr Brown will begin in his new role on July 18.
