NRW announces $192m in new FMG deals

Civil and mining services contractor NRW Holdings has announced two new deals with Fortescue Metals Group worth a combined $192 million.

NRW announced today it had been awarded a further $112 million earth, concrete, piling and track works project at Fortescue's Herb Elliot port in the Pilbara.

The contractor has carried out initial civil works for the Herb Elliott port facility since November 2010.

Its workforce will peak at around 220 employers under the new contract, NRW's statement said.

In a separate announcement, NRW said that its joint venture with the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Foundation and Eastern Guruma had won a mining contract worth around $80 million at Fortescue's Solomon iron ore project.

The contract has an expected term of 18 months.

The two contracts expand on Fortescue's existing relationship with NRW, which has carried out rail earthworks at the Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mines, and other contract miing operations, as well as the work at the Herb Elliott port.

"Fortescue is a long term client of NRW's and Solomon represents the next major phase of its growth - NRW is extremely produ and excited to be at their side once again," NRW chief executive Jules Pemberton said.

At 9:56AM (WST) NRW shares were down slightly, at $2.76.
