Maynard recruited by PKF

Mid-tier accounting firm PKF has snared its second prominent recruit this year with the appointment of Russell Maynard as indirect tax executive.

Mr Maynard has previously been a partner at Anderson (until 1999) and KPMG (until 2004) before operating as a sole practitioner for the past two years.

His move follows the appointment earlier this year of experienced PricewaterhouseCoopers partner John Murray as a PKF tax partner, focusing on the resources sector.

Mr Murray said PKF chose the unusual title of ‘executive’ for Mr Maynard because it wanted to be different.

“We used a tag that corporate Australia is familiar with,” Mr Murray told WA Business News.

Mr Maynard, who said he would operate alongside the partners at PKF, was attracted by the firm’s plan to build a practice that would be able to service clients of all sizes.

“At a lot of firms, the services are not as flexible as people in Perth require,” Mr Maynard said.

PKF would offer flexible fee structures to accommodate different clients, from smaller businesses through to larger corporates.

Mr Maynard said PKF would allow him to continue offering flexible, personalised service but with more resources than when operating as a sole practitioner.

He plans to recruit additional staff so that PKF can expand its indirect tax practice.
