Malone joins HIF board

Technology entrepreneur Michael Malone has further broadened his board portfolio to five with his recent appointment to health insurer HIF.

Mr Malone, who founded ISP iiNet and grew it from the garage of his family home to a national business listed on the ASX, has a portfolio skewed towards Western Australia with a mixture of major companies and maturing tech businesses.

Late last year he joined the board of WA-based medical bookings success HealthEngine, adding to the tech-edge of his roles following his appointment to WiseTech Global in late 2021.

Longer-term board roles have been almost seven years at federal government broadband infrastructure provider NBN Co and nearly eight years at Seven West Media.

Past roles have been with Market Eye, Speedcast, DUG, Superloop and Diamond Cyber, many of which he invested in.

Mr Malone was CEO at iiNet from 1993 to 2014. He stepped down from the then listed company after a period of selling down his stake. The company was taken over by TPG Telecom a year later.
