The Mid West Ports Authority confirmed its chief financial officer Sandra Pigdon has resigned after a legal matter was dealt with in courts.
Ms Pigdon reportedly faced allegations of breaching state law and appeared in Perth Magistrates' Court last month.
A Mid West Ports spokesperson confirmed to Business News Ms Pigdon has left the organisation.
“This matter has been dealt with before the courts and the staff member has now resigned,” the spokesperson said.
“Mid West Ports remains focused on operating safely, responsibly and transparently.”
The legal dispute came after the Crime and Corruption Commission investigated the ports authority, which manages the Port of Geraldton, over misconduct.
The corruption watchdog tabled a report in parliament in May 2024.
Last year, the CCC identified misconduct risks which arose when Mid West Ports deviated from standard procurement and tender procedures.
In its report, the CCC said the port authority executed a contract of more than $2.8 million over security services at Geraldton Port in May 2021.
The contract was awarded to a company owned by a former City of Greater Geraldton mayor, despite being second ranked on the assessment criteria.
"The commission’s investigation could not ascertain a legitimate justification for why the tender was not awarded to the highest scoring applicant," the CCC said in its statement in May 2024.
The CCC said there were three crucial deviations from the standard system including failure to follow the Mid West Ports Authority's corporate delegations manual, misleading and inaccurate statements in presentations that seemingly favoured the recipient of the contract, and failure to adequately record information during the tender process.
However, the CCC noted in its report that the authority has updated its corporate delegations manual by early 2022.
