BankWest has commenced a seach for a new managing director after the incumbent Rodger McArthur advised that he plans to retire later this year.
The managing director's role at BankWest is unusual, since the incumbent shares responsibility with three other executives who are arguably more influential.
Sydney-based HBOS Australia chief executive David Willis has overall responsibility for the group's operations in Australia, which include BankWest, leasing arm Capital Finance, insurer St Andrew's and corporate financier BOS (International).
Other senior executives in the group are Perth-based chief executive retail Ian Corfield and Melbourne-based chief executive corporate and business Paul Clark.

BankWest Managing Director to retire in 2007
BankWest Managing Director Rodger McArthur has announced his intention to retire towards the end of 2007.
Mr McArthur, who was seconded to BankWest as a director and General Manager Risk Management in 2002, was appointed BankWest Managing Director and Chief Executive Group Functions HBOS Australia in April 2004.
His career has spanned more than 40 years in the financial services sector with HBOS in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
HBOSA and BankWest Board Chairman Ian Mackenzie said that Mr McArthur had made a significant contribution at Board and Executive level to the establishment, growth and current success of HBOS in Australia since its establishment in 2004.
HBOSA CEO David Willis said: "Mr McArthur's experience has been important in ensuring our growth plans have been carried out with due consideration of prudent governance and risk management principles.
"BankWest is a pivotal part of the Group's expansion plans and Mr McArthur has provided leadership and direction as we have continued to build on our strong position in Western Australia while growing the BankWest brand and presence nationally.
"We are working through our succession process including external candidates, with a view to announcing Rodger's successor in time for an orderly transition."
