Local entrepreneur Graeme Speak’s cyber security startup business has been named the fintech category winner at the Silicon Valley Forum’s World Cup Tech Challenge.

Held at the Microsoft Campus in Silicon Valley this week, Bankvaultonline.com competed against four fintech companies across the world in the challenge, coming out on top in its category.

BankVault prevents bank account hacking and secures online transactions by creating invisible endpoint devices that bypass hackers.

The system is immune to malware and other techniques used by hackers as it runs separately to the user’s own network.

“It’s a great acknowledgement, which shows the world that our BankVault product gets the seal of approval from Silicon Valley,” Mr Speak said.

“It’s fantastic news not only for our company, but also for the tech startup scene in Perth and Australia.”

BankVault was one of 24 startup finalists across six categories chosen to compete at the challenge.
