Iain Smith

Iain Smith was originally a petroleum geophysicist and has over 30 years of experience in the upstream petroleum sector, in both technical and commercial roles, within Australia and overseas.

After a number of years within the New Ventures team of Premier Oil, he spent ten years in sales and general management roles within the geophysical technology /services sector in the UK, Australia and India. Mr Smith also held commercial advisory roles within the exploration/new ventures and Browse LNG business units of Woodside Energy. He is a petroleum geophysicist who commenced his career in 1991 at Western Geophysical prior to moving on to Premier Oil, Woodside Petroleum and served at Neon Energy. During his career, he was responsible for overseeing numerous asset sales and farm-outs which to date have exceeded $300min exploration expenditure.

Mr Smith holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Geology and Geophysics from Imperial College London, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Western Australia.
