K+S Group is a German-headquartered multinational salt and potash producer with significant potash operations in Europe and Canada, and fertiliser production facilities worldwide.
K+S, until 1998 a subsidiary of BASF, formed through the gradual consolidation of many East and West German rock salt and potash mining operations, hence the 'Kali und Salz' that its current name derives from. The oldest of these companies was founded in 1889.
In 2016, K+S announced it was evaluating development of the $350 million Ashburton salt project located 40km south-west of Onslow.
