Pilbara Minerals has announced the company’s newly created role of chief development officer has been filled by John Stanning. In this position, Mr Stanning will oversee Pilbara Minerals’ corporate development, growth and exploration functions. Mr Stanning has worked as division director at Macquarie Capital for the past 17 years and Pilbara Minerals has been one of his larger clients, as he advised the company on its acquisition of Altura Mining and the associated equity raising. He will commence his new role in late February.

Duratec chief financial officer Paul Ryan has resigned from his role with Ashley Muirhead taking over Mr Ryan’s duties until a permanent chief financial officer is recruited. Mr Ryan had been with Duratec for five years and supported the company during its transition from private company to an ASX listing in November 2020. Ms Muirhead is an accountant and was working at Duratec for the past two years as financial controller before being appointed to temporarily take on the chief financial officer role.

Mining logistics company Bis Industries appointed Simon Atkinson as its new chief executive. Mr Atkinson moved from his position as Pacific National chief financial officer to join the Bis board in December last year before officially taking over the chief executive role in early February. Prior to Pacific National, Mr Atkinson worked at Incitec Pivot where he ran the Asia Pacific downstream business specialising in commercial explosives and fertilisers.

Perseus Mining has announced Chris Woodall will be retiring from his role as chief operating officer in June, with David Schummer set to take over the position. Mr Schummer joined Perseus on February 1 to become familiar with the company’s West African operations and commence the management transition leading up to Mr Woodall’s departure. Mr Schummer worked at Newmont Mining Corporation for 22 years in several roles including vice president of North American operations in Nevada and senior vice president of African operations in Ghana. He has also worked as Ma’aden Gold and Base Metals senior vice president in Saudi Arabia.

Perth USAsia Centre has recruited a new chair, vice-chair and several board members. Former Labor leader and defence minister Kim Beazley has joined the team as chair with Deidre Wilmott, who has been on the board since 2014, filling the vice-chair position. Perth USAsia Centre will also welcome three incoming directors to the board: former Premier of WA Richard Court, Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA chief executive Rebecca Tomkinson and Shangri-La Dialogue senior fellow for Asia-Pacific Security Lynn Kuok.

ASX-listed DevEx Resources appointed experienced mining executive Andrew Eddowes as general manager. Mr Eddowes will be leading the company’s business development, transitioning from a 19 year career at IGO Limited. He worked in several roles at IGO including business development and investor relations manager, and later as head of corporate development where he assisted in the achievement of the company’s Western Areas acquisition, Tropicana divestment and Tianqi Joint Venture transaction and equity funding.

City of Subiaco has announced the appointent of four new directors to the executive team. Linnet Solomons was appointed director of business improvement, bringing more than 15 years of experience in local government including senior roles at Cities of Bayswater and Gosnells. Emma Woolaston was appointed director of corporate services, shifting to City of Subiaco from her previous role as a director at Towong Shire Council in Victoria. Alex Petrovski was appointed director of development services, offering his experience as an urban and regional planner at local and state government levels. James Hambly has an engineering background and was appointed director of technical services with more than 12 years' experience in local government at City of Subiaco.

Businesswoman Paula Rogers has been named as the new head of the Committee for Perth. Ms Rogers has more than 25 years’ experience in stakeholder management, communications and business development and founded her own firm, Paula Rogers Consulting. Outgoing chief executive Marion Fulker, who was the inaugural leader of the independent organisation, announced she was stepping down from the position in October.
