iiNet move designed to centralise staff

WA’s biggest Internet service provider, iiNet, is on the move, shifting its operations from QV1 to Durack House on Adelaide Terrace.

The new premises will house all of iiNet’s staff, who previously worked from three separate locations around Perth. However, the company’s hardware will remain in the basement of QV1 under a long-term lease agreement.

Both iiNet’s telecommunication carrier, Chime, and its network planners division have already moved into the new building.

It is expected the move will be completed by the end of July with the call centre the last to relocate.

According to an iiNet spokesperson, Internet access will not be disrupted during the move.

The call centre will be unavailable to customers during the early hours of a Sunday morning.

iiNet managing director Michael Malone was not available to comment on reports iiNet was dissatisfied with the lease on its previous premises.

CB Richard Ellis building manager for QV1, Alison Robertson, said she had not received any complaints from iiNet concerning the lease.

However, she said the relocation might be to cut the cost of iiNet housing a call centre within premium office space.
