WACA appoints first female deputy chair

The Western Australian Cricket Association has welcomed its first female deputy chair, Vanessa Guthrie (pictured) and a new chair, former WA governor Ken Michael, to its board.

Dr Guthrie joined the WACA board in February this year.

She has served as managing director of uranium explorer Toro Energy since 2013, prior to which she was the company’s executive general manager.

In June, Dr Guthrie was appointed the chair of the Minerals Council of Australia

Dr Michael joined the WACA board in late 2015 as president, and will continue this role alongside the position of chair commencing December 7.

He served as governor of Western Australia from 2006 to 2011.

The announcement follows the resignation of chair Lachlan Henderson, who has accepted a Victoria-based role as group chief executive of Epworth Healthcare.

Former deputy chair Kade Harvey has decided to step down as deputy chair to focus on his role of assistant coach with the Perth Scorchers.

 

St Ives appoints home care CEO

St Ives Group has promoted chief operating officer, care, Michelle De Ronchi to the position of chief executive, St Ives Home Care. Ms De Ronchi joined St Ives as general manager, residential care and home care, in 2012, after previously serving as general manager for SwanCare Group.

 

Jackson joins Minter IR team

MinterEllison has appointed Brian Jackson a special counsel in its Perth human resources and industrial relations team. Mr Jackson previously served as special counsel at DLA Piper, which he joined as a senior associate in 2006. Before that he held roles at Gadens, at Pryles & Defteros, and at Jackson McDonald.

 

Slattery expands Perth team

Slattery Asset Advisory has appointed Steve Waterman an asset manager in its Perth office. Mr Waterman was formerly the WA state manager, credit restructuring, for Westpac Group. Other previous roles include head of finance lending services for Capricorn Society and business development manager, harvest finance, for AWB.

 

Curtin prof nets UNESCO chair

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation has appointed David Gibson inaugural chair, data science in higher education teaching and learning. Professor Gibson is currently the director, learning futures, at Curtin University. He joined the university in 2013 as director, learning engagement. He is the creator of teaching simulator application simSchool.

 

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Alan Rimmer as WA client director, transport. Mr Rimmer was previously executive director, sales for Jacobs. He replaces Phil Nicholls who has moved into a Sydney-based role.

 

Inhouse Group has appointed Alice Manners to its board. Ms Manners is chief digital officer for Marketforce.
