City of Joondalup, Perron Group, Sandfire Resources and Water Corporation have made significant appointments over the holiday season.

James Pearson will be the chief executive of the City of Joondalup, starting on March 15.

Most recently, Mr Pearson worked as the chief executive of Canberra-based Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and previously led the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Western Australia.

He replaces Garry Hunt, who ended his almost 16-year tenure as chief executive in December.

Paul Larsen has been appointed a director of Perron Group, starting on January 1.

He previously worked as chief executive at Arc Infrastructure.

Mr Larsen has experience on a number of boards, including Kimberley Ports Authority, Centurion Transport, Australasian Railway Association, Australian Logistics Council and Youth Focus.

In late December, Sandfire Resources made changes to its board as part of its succession plan, appointing Jenn Morris and John Richards as non-executive directors.

Ms Morris is a non-executive director of Fortescue Metals Group and a commissioner of the Australian Sports Commission.

Mr Richards, who will chair Sandfire’s audit committee and will join the risk committee, is a board member of gold producer Saracen Mineral Holdings and on the board of mineral sands company Sheffield resources.

SportWest has announced Matt Fulton as its new chief executive, replacing Rob Thompson.

Mr Fulton was previously the chief executive of the peak body for cycling in WA WestCycle.

Water Corporation said Carla Boehl was joining its board, after the retirement of Jemma Green and Nicole Lockwood.

A civil engineer, Dr Boehl joined Fortescue Metals Group last year from Monadelphous Group and is an associate at Curtin University’s WA School of Mines.

Water Corporation deputy chair David Lock has been reappointed to his position, which he has held since 2017.
