HIF members will be able to access rapid antigen tests at a discounted price following a partnership struck between the health insurer and the state’s branch of the Australian Medical Association.

The deal, which will provide RATs to HIF members at a 20 per cent discount on the retail price, will begin on February 25.

HIF chief executive Justin James said the insurer's goal was to make the tests easily accessible to members as COVID-19 cases continued to ebb and flow.

“The more avenues we can provide, the easier it will be for members to get a hold of these important tests,” he said.

“We take a member-first approach in all that we do, and that includes finding helpful ways to assist our members in navigating the pandemic with great partners like the AMA WA.”

Bennie Ng, chief executive of the AMA’s state branch, similarly said he was pleased to assist HIF’s members.

“It’s great to be working with HIF to increase accessibility of much needed COVID-19 supplies,” he said.

“We feel this will be crucial when WA’s case load increases, providing an easily accessible option for members to obtain these tests.”
