Appointments May 14, 2021

Our weekly appointments wrap includes Michael Lundberg, Clare Pope, Amanda Cox, Wieland Meyer, Catherine Milliner, Charlie Bass, Jennifer Halton and Michael Chan.

Michael Lundberg has joined Jones Day’s global disputes practice. Mr Lundberg previously worked as a partner at Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart & Sullivan and King & Wood Mallesons. He has represented a range of clients including acting in an ICC international arbitration in London in relation to a change of control and pre-emptive right joint venture dispute in the oil and gas sector.

Clare Pope has been appointed as ESG co-leader for PwC's Global Legal Network. The appointment is in addition to her existing role as leader of PwC Perth's legal practice. Ms Pope has experience working in London and Australia and has held positions at Squire Patton Boggs, Herbert Smith Freehills and Minter Ellison.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia has appointed Amanda Cox as chief financial and people officer, starting June 14. Ms Cox has held executive roles with high profile organisations, including the West Coast Eagles for 15 years as the chief financial officer and general manager - finance, people and business operations, and is currently the interim chief executive officer of RPH Research Foundation.

Mycologist Wieland Meyer has been appointed as associate dean of the Curtin University Medical School. Professor Meyer was most recently a professor of molecular medical mycology at the University of Sydney. He has also worked as head of the molecular mycology research laboratory at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research and has established a globally-recognised team to advance the understanding of fungal disease.

Miners' Promise has made Catherine Milliner chair. Ms Milliner has been a non-executive director at the company for the past two years. She has worked in health and resources for the past 25 years and currently works as the practice development manager for Midland Physician Services at St John of God Midland, managing the outpatient services for more than 35 medical specialists.  

Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation founder Charlie Bass will become executive chair after a restructure at the organisation. The role of chief executive has been removed, and two new roles have been added: chief impact officer and chief education officer. Jennifer Halton has been appointed as chief impact officer. Dr Halton most recently worked at Imperial College London, at the Imperial Cancer Research UK Centre and then at Scale Space as head of growth and partnerships.

Michael Chan has joined EcoGraf as executive manager- product development. Prior to this appointment, Mr Chan was the chief development officer of Hexagon Resources and general manager of project development for Syrah Resources. He has spent more than 30 years developing process flowsheets and product development strategies to commercialise a range of critical and battery minerals.
