Edith Cowan University has partnered with Stan Perron Charitable Foundation to appoint its inaugural Professor of Business Ethics, announcing Edward Wray-Bliss would fill this role. In this position, Professor Wray-Bliss would ensure ECU’s business and law graduates are ethical when embarking on their chosen careers by teaching core business ethics units. This is ECU’s first externally funded professorial chair position. Professor Wray-Bliss has more than 25 years’ experience in academia, holding roles at universities across Australia and the UK.

Perdaman Global Services has appointed Walter Gomes as project manager international business to develop new trade and investment opportunities for the international recruitment company. In this role, Mr Gomes is expected to lead Perdaman’s partnership with the Indian government’s National Skills Development Corporation. Mr Gomes is a current committee member for the Australia India Business Council and in 2019, he helped deliver the WA government’s first Asian Engagement Strategy.

Raj Kandiah has been recruited as FYI Resources head of commercial and will be responsible for the company’s high purity alumina project. Mr Kandiah has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry working a range of senior commercial roles. Prior to joining FYI Resources, Mr Kandiah worked as Alcoa Australia director of new market development, a role in which he oversaw investigation into high purity alumina. Mr Kandiah has also worked as Argyle Pink Diamonds general manager and Rio Tinto general manager global marketing (alumina, aluminium, iron ore, coal).

John Palermo has resigned from the board of West Australian Ballet, one year after being appointed deputy chair. His exit is one of many changes at the ballet company this year, with the board deciding in March it would not renew the contract of its long-serving and popular director Aurelien Scannella. Its board has been bolstered by the addition of Alan Dodge and Suzanne Ardagh this year. Mr Palermo has become Royal Perth Hospital Research Foundation chair.

Fortescue Metals has recruited United States-based energy executive Christine Morris as chief financial officer, effective early July. This appointment follows the resignation of Fortescue Metals employee Ian Wells, who stepped down as CFO in January after more than 13 years with the company. It’s understood Ms Morris will be relocating from the US to Perth for her new role. Ms Morris has previously worked as CFO in Copenhagen for Maersk Drilling and in Houston for oilfields services company BJ Services.

Fremantle Ports chair Chris Sutherland has lifted his portfolio after being appointed as the new Fremantle Football Club president, succeeding Dale Alcock. The experienced chairman and director will take on the presidency role at the end of the 2023 AFL and AFLW seasons after Mr Alcock completes his tenure. Mr Sutherland joined Fremantle Football Club board as a director in November 2021 after more than a decade working for Programmed as managing director and group chief executive.
