Our weekly appointments wrap includes Julie Bishop, Clinton Bright, Martin Crawford, Erin O'Donnell, Linda Keane, Lynette Dias, Surend Dayal, David Kennare and Russell Quinn.

Julie Bishop is joining the Human Vaccines Project’s board of directors. After training and working as a lawyer for Clayton Utz, Ms Bishop served as a member of the House of Representatives for 21 years. Since leaving parliament, Ms Bishop has established the consultancy Julie Bishop & Partners.

Shelley Cable will leave PriceWaterhouseCoopers to join the Minderoo Foundation’s Generation One as chief executive. She has previously presented to the UN on the topic of rights of indigenous peoples, and was a delegate to the Uluru Convention of Constitutional Reform. A former winner of Generation One’s “CEO for a Day” competition, Minderoo chief executive Andrew Hagger said Ms Cable would bring energy and a fresh perspective to the role.

RSPCA WA has said it will not permanently appoint Iain Torrance as its chief executive. Mr Torrance had moved from New Zealand for the role, and was the CEO of Wellington SPCA. The board will now look for a permanent replacement for former CEO David van Ooran, who had been in the role for seven years before leaving last year. Mr Torrance was appointed to the role in March.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations has appointed Clinton Bright as general manager commercial and risk. Mr Bright previously worked at Silver Chain as finance manager. Sonia Nolan is also joining the team as director communications and corporate engagement. Most recently, Ms Nolan held senior communications roles at Alcoa.

Russell Quinn has been appointed associate director of Citadel-MAGNUS’s Perth office. Most recently an assistant director of strategic communications with the NDIS, Mr Quinn wrote for Business News between 2008 and 2010. Managing director and co-founder John Gardner said in a statement that Mr Quinn’s experience with Bankwest, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and government entities would benefit clients nationwide.

Attorney General John Quigley has announced four new appointments to the Magistrates Court. The appointees include former Arns & Associates solicitor Martin Crawford, State Solicitors Office assistant state counsel Erin O'Donnell, senior state prosecutor Linda Keane and Lynette Dias who has had experience government departments including WA Police and the State Solicitor’s Office.

David Kennare will join Xodus Group as its new field development director for Asia-Pacific. He was previously managing director for Pertius Group’s operations in Houston, London, Kuala Lumpur and Perth. Prior to that, he held executive roles with Poyry Energy and IGL. Operations director Simon Allison said Mr Kennare would help lead a team that had grown by nearly 50 per cent since the start of the year.

Oracle specialists Magia Solutions has appointed Surend Dayal as chief executive. Mr Dayal worked at Oracle for ten years and is a senior lecturer in IT law at the Australian National University. Mr Dayal will be based in the Canberra office.
