White Cliff set to fly at Reedy South gold project
ASX-listed White Cliff Minerals is leaving no exploration stone unturned at its recently acquired historic Reedy South gold project in WA’s Murchison Goldfields as it buckles up for a large aeromagnetic survey having almost completed an upsized 4,500m RC drilling program.
The Perth-based gold and base metals explorer commissioned Thompson Aviation to fly 6,100 line kilometres on 50m line spacing across its Reedy South tenement holdings prior to further in-field exploration earmarked for early next year.
White Cliff says the resultant survey data merged with geological mapping will help guide follow-up soil sampling, trenching and reconnaissance drilling work.
The Reedy South project area spans 272 square kilometres of the Murchison Goldfields and sits about 40 kilometres north of Cue and 80km south of Meekatharra. It is centred on the southern portion of the gold-bearing Reedy Shear Zone within the north-south-trending Meekatharra-Wydgee greenstone belt.
White Cliff Minerals Technical Director, Ed Mead said: “The aeromagnetic survey across the entire Reedy South Project area will generate high-resolution data that includes radiometrics and create a single layer of data we can use to plan future work programs on. Interpretations of the survey will also generate structural targeting and modelling of prospective geological units.”
The company also expects the first batch of assay results from its expanded, maiden drill program to be delivered in coming weeks. The drilling campaign was predominantly aimed at delving deeper beneath historic underground workings at the Pegasus and King Cole prospects as well as infilling drill holes to depths of up to 80m and testing depth and along-strike extensions.
Following a detailed analysis of historical drilling data generated by previous project owners between 1984 and 2015, White Cliff recently released a maiden mineral resource estimate for Reedy South of 779,000 tonnes of ore going 1.7 grams per tonne for 42,400 ounces of contained gold.
According to the company, the Reedy Shear Zone plays host to several high-grade gold deposits with vertical plunging mineralisation extending to depths of 500m-plus.
White Cliff sees the style and controls of mineralisation of its deposit as being similar to Westgold Resources’ producing South Emu-Triton underground gold mine. Reedy South sits only 600m south of South Emu-Triton, which is located at the Reedy’s gold mining centre.
Reedy South’s gold mineralisation occurs in shoots or shears within the Reedy Shear Zone. The company believes lurking beneath or along strike of known mineralisation lies the potential to significantly increase the resource through drilling.
