The founders of a North West brewery will open their fourth venue, lifting the company into the upper echelon’s of Western Australia’s watering hole operators.

Hot on the heels of establishing its first metropolitan premises in North Beach late last year, the Exmouth-based Froth Craft Brewery has won the City of Greater Geraldton’s backing to open a new venue on the Mid West city’s foreshore.

Councillors backed a motion to grant development approval for Froth Craft’s new tavern at the old Skeetas Restaurant site on Cathedral Avenue was passed 9-1 by Geraldton councillors on Wednesday night.

City of Greater Geraldton deputy mayor Natasha Colliver said Froth Craft’s proposal would fit in well with the prime location.

“It is great to see that building and that space activated,” she said.

“These people have good history with their current businesses running and I think it is a really exciting development for that part of town.”

Councillor Aaron Horsman was the lone voice opposing the project, raising concerns about parking and the number of licensed premises nearby.

Phil Gray, Tyler Little, and Pete Firth opened Froth Craft in Exmouth’s mall in 2017 and followed it up with their largest venue, a brewery in Bunbury, in 2022.

The North Beach pub was opened in December last year and has proven immensely popular to date.

The Geraldton brewpub will place Froth Craft among the state’s biggest pub companies in terms of venues operated.

ALH Group is the largest pub operator in the state with 28 venues, according to Data&Insights.

Froth’s fourth venue will place it in the top 20 pub and bar owners alongside Nokturnl Group, Clancy’s owner Fisher Group, Karratha-based Stardeck Group, and Adrian Fini’s FJM Property.
