Chris Tuckwell will succeed Doug Grewar as managing director of MACA.

Tuckwell returns to MACA

Monday, 5 May, 2014 - 12:40

Mining executive Chris Tuckwell plans to return to MACA as its managing director, two years after leaving the company to join rival contractor Ausdrill in Africa.

Mr Tuckwell spent the past two years as Ausdrill's chief operating officer – Africa, a position that was created when Ausdrill recruited him.

He had previously spent 13 years with the Canning Vale-based company between 1994 and 2007.

Mr Tuckwell's return to MACA follows the resignation of its managing director Doug Grewar, who spent 19 months in the top job.

Mr Grewar's resignation took effect from last Friday, May 2.

He joined MACA in October 2012, having previously held senior Queensland-based roles with Abigroup, Macmahon Contractors, and Downer Mining.

Ausdrill said Mr Tuckwell’s notice period expired on July 31, and he would continue in his role until then unless he and the company agreed on an earlier date.

The company said it was considering various options regarding the appointment of a suitable successor to the role.

Meanwhile, Brisbane-based mining contractor Sedgman announced today that Peter Watson, who was previously responsible for its Australia West, Africa and Americas regions, has been promoted to managing director.

Mr Watson will succeed Nick Jukes in June.

His salary package includes base pay of $600,000 per annum, plus superannuation, a short-term bonus up to a maximum 75 per cent of base salary, and participation in the company's long-term incentive plan.
