Regional Express Holdings has secured two contracts to offer additional weekly flights for the fly-in, fly-out market in Western Australia.

National Jet Express, a Rex Group member, today announced it was awarded two long-term mining contracts for flights to Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, and Woodie Woodie.

Under the contracts, NJE will operate twice weekly charter flights between Perth and Kalgoorlie and Kambalda for a mining company in the Goldfields region.

It will also operate charter flights between Perth and Woodie Woodie for Consolidated Minerals using its E190 aircraft three times a week.

NJE managing director Chris Hine said the company was rapidly becoming the first port of call for resource companies seeking air services with a greatly reduced carbon footprint.

“On the heels of NJE’s recent announcement on 23 October 2023 of new Queensland-based resources contracts, these two new contracts in our largest base in Western Australia demonstrate that the mining and resources industry recognises the Rex Group and NJE as the premier provider of FIFO services in Australia,” he said.

“The significant demand we are seeing for our services is driving our rapid rate of expansion, with one additional De Havilland Dash 8-400NG aircraft joining our fleet last month and plans to add additional aircraft to both our Dash 8-400NG and E190 fleets before the end of this financial year.

“NJE is privileged to be part of the Rex Group, which is the biggest regional operator of Regular Passenger Transport services in regional and rural Australia, with a growing network of domestic services using Boeing 737-800NG aircraft.

“NJE and Rex are well placed to support each other’s networks and this means that corporate clients that choose NJE for air charter services can be assured of the best possible level of reliability and integrity.”

Rex acquired National Jet Express for $48 million in July 2022.
