Startup accelerator Plus Eight has revealed the six finalist companies that are participating in its inaugural program, with four of them originating from Perth.

Cribber, Ovass, Farmsave, Feedmee, HUMM Technologies and QuizJam will all participate in the new Perth-based accelerator, which is backed by Spacecubed, Telstra, Seven West Media, Hawaiian and muru-D.

The teams will receive up to $40,000 in seed funding, six months of desk space at co-working space FLUX, and access to business networks and mentorships over the half-year program.

“The Plus Eight program is geared to help startups accelerate growth domestically and globally,” Plus Eight accelerator entrepreneur-in-residence Tim Brewer said.

“We hope that this diverse group of founders and their teams will go on to become role models, inspiring and enabling others to take their part in the thriving innovation culture of Western Australia, a critical part of our economic future.

muru-D head Julie Trell said the finalists were tackling an exciting range of challenges – from supporting farmers, to expanding human capabilities, engaging employees, and providing meals to those in need.

The program kicked off in mid-March, and will wrap up in September.
