QEU&S appoints Perth Partner

Western Australian state solicitor Paul Evans has been appointed partner in Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan's new Perth office. Mr  Evans will focus on corporations law and competition litigation. Prior to his appointment as state solicitor in 2011 he was a partner at Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills), having joined precursor firm Muir Williams & Nicholson as a graduate. Last year the Insurance Commission of Western Australia appointed Quinn Emanuel to represent them in the Bell Group case. At the time, Quinn Emanuel's only Australian presence was its Sydney office.

 

CEO changes at UnitingCare West

UnitingCare West has appointed Amanda Hunt as chief executive, taking over from Sue Ash AO who will be leaving in April after six years at the helm. Ms  Hunt was State Manager, WA and SA at Mission Australia, and prior to that was executive general manager of Anglicare WA.

 

2 new board members for Rocky Bay

Disability services provider Rocky Bay has appointed Martin Wandmaker and Richard Diermajer to its board. Mr  Wandmaker is head of human resources at AHG and was previously executive general manager for Sydney Ports Corporation. Mr  Diermajer is the former chair of Valued Independent People, which merged with Rocky Bay earlier this year.

 

Changes at the helm for St John of God hospitals

St John of God Subiaco and Murdoch hospitals have appointed chief executives. Professor Shirley Bowen will begin at SJOG Subiaco in June. Professor  Bowen is currently dean of the school of medicine, Fremantle at the University of Notre Dame Australia, and was director of medical services at SJOG Murdoch Hospital from 2012 to 2014. Ben Edwards will begin at SJOG Murdoch Hospital in April, after a stint as acting chief executive of SJOG Mt Lawley hospital since November. Prior to that role, Mr  Edwards led SJGHC’s Transformation Team.

 

Asterisk appoints Bobby Brewer as Security Infrastructure Consultant

Asterisk Information Security has appointed Bobby Brewer as security infrastructure consultant. Mr  Brewer was lead security specialist at Fujitsu in UK and Ireland. He has over 10 years' experience in security operations centre.

 

New State Manager for BADGE

Badge Constructions WA has appointed Julian Timmis WA state manager. Mr  Timmis joined BADGE South Australia in 2007 as construction manager, after previous work with Broad Construction Services. He moved to WA in 2015, and has recently been involved with the management of Badge's work in the WA Schools Public Private Partnership project.

 

Two new senior appointments at Nanollose

Nanollose has appointed Ranjit Ahl as chief executive and Alfie Germano as chief innovative officer in the lead-up to the company's impending IPO. Mr  Ahl has 28 years of international executive experience in the USA, Asia, Oceania and Europe. In addition to specialty chemical experience, Mr  Ahl has seven years of innovative start-up small business executive experience in USA and New Zealand. Mr  Germano is a 30-year veteran in the global textile industry sector having worked in his family garment manufacturing company before moving to Hong Kong and spending the past 24 years in the garment industry as a leader of large-scale global product development, sourcing and retail operations. He was vice president and director of GAP, VF Corporation, Liz Claiborne, Fila and Carter’s while travelling the world extensively with postings in the USA, Japan and China.

 

New marketing team for RFDS

The Royal Flying Doctor Service has appointed a new marketing and communications team to be headed by Kerry Milne. Ms  Milne was executive manager, advocacy and engagement at Bankwest prior to her new appointment as general manager, marketing and communications at RFDS. Joining Ms  Milne's team will be Chris Frame in brand and fundraising; Ra Stewart in corporate partnerships; and Alexandra Wingate in PR and communications.

 

Cannings Purple government relations appointments

Cannings Purple has appointed Astrid Serventy and Molly Cooke to its government relations team. Ms  Serventy, who joined Cannings Purple in 2013 becomes a director of the firm. Prior to Cannings Purple, she was an advisor to former Federal Energy and Resources, Small Business and Tourism Minister Gary Gray AO, former Attorney General and Health Minister Jim McGinty, and former Planning and Culture and the Arts Minister John Day. Ms  Cooke began as a media officer with Cannings Purple in September last year, and now becomes a government relations and corporate affairs consultant.

 

New partner to join Grant Thornton Perth

Matthew Hingeley has joined Grant Thornton's Perth office as partner in the audit and assurance division. Mr  Hingeley joined Grant Thornton in 2012 and was previously a partner in their Melbourne office. Prior to that, he has been a partner at BDO and associate director of Horwath.
