Organic juice the real deal

THE first completely organic and biodynamic fruit juice to be produced in Western Australia will be launched on November 23 at the WA Biodynamic Festival.

Produced by biodynamic orchard High Vale, Inner Core will initially be released as an apple and pear juice with a touch of lemon flavour, with all fruit picked and juiced on site at the company's Pickering Brook farm.

High Vale product developer Emily Lyons said the product would remain true to High Vale's principles of sustainability and health.

'There are no sprays used in production and no preservatives or additives. It is not reconstituted, whereas some juices that even contain 100 per cent juice or say that they are organic are still reconstituted, so all the goodness is boiled out of it and then water is added at the other end," she said.

"The whole philosophy behind the farm is using sustainable principles. We're the only company doing biodynamic juice, and possible even organic. We bottle in glass, so there is no leaching of chemicals from plastic and it's recyclable."

Although the product is yet to be launched, Ms Lyons said that there had already been strong demand from cafes and health clubs throughout Perth.

"The launch hasn't even happened yet and we're getting inquiries just about every day, so it's good. We're going to have to do another run before the festival just to keep up with demand," she said.

With an increase in awareness toward organic and biodynamic products, Ms Lyons believes that parents of younger children will be a strong market for the High Vale product.

"Well, mums are always concerned about what they give their kids and I certainly wouldn't want to give my kids something with added sugar that's only got 15 per cent juice in it," Ms Lyons told WA Business News.

"This is the real McCoy, its 100 per cent juice, it's organic and there are no nasties in it, no numbers to be wary of or no additives."

High Vale, which was established in 1939, plans to release a cider next year, with a range of jams and conserves available at the launch.
