What is your favourite holiday destination?

Sicily because of the relaxed lifestyle, and the fact I was born there and the mammas still love me.

What is your favourite place in WA to take a short break?

Bunker Bay; it's wilderness and luxury wrapped into one. As someone who enjoys fishing as a relaxing pastime, I also spend many hours on the Busselton Jetty waiting for that big one.

Where's the best place in Perth to take out-of-towners?

Fremantle's cappuccino strip and fisherman's harbour. There is a buzz, especially on weekends. I go there because unfortunately the Perth foreshore is just a windswept expanse of grass.

What has been your biggest travel disaster and what did you learn from it?

While trying to drive a hire car from Naples along the Amalfi coast to Positano, I discovered I'm afraid of heights and big buses rule.

What is your pet hate when travelling on airplanes?

People who sleep when I'm worried about the next patch of turbulence.

How often do you travel? Is it usually for business or pleasure?

I travel to the eastern states monthly and internationally two or three times a year. I try to combine some pleasure with business but haven't achieved a happy balance yet.

What do you always take in your carry-on luggage?

My reading glasses; they became important essentials when I turned 50.

Where have you always wanted to travel but haven't managed to yet?

I have been fortunate to be able to visit most countries with the exception of Egypt. Like many people I have a fascination for pharaohs and pyramids, so Egypt is on the agenda.

What is your favourite interstate restaurant/bar/hotel?

Andrew McConnell's new Cumulus restaurant in Melbourne.

What is your favourite airline?

I mostly fly Qantas and despite recent events I am generally happy. But for service and in-flight environment, I can't go past Singapore Airlines.

What is the best overseas hotel you've stayed at?

Park Hyatt Paris - Vendome, a converted palace in the heart of Paris.

You wish Perth could be more like...

Perth but with an extra shot of buzz. The CBD is somewhat sterile. I am fully supportive of our new Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi's push to invigorate Perth city, with the laneways revitalisation strategy being just one example of bringing some Melbourne funk to Perth.

You hope Perth always retains...

Its clean air and blue skies. Many places I visit never see a blue sky anymore, we are privileged and we must protect it.

What was the last book you read?

1423 - How China Discovered America.

What CD is currently in your car?

Counting Crows - Hard Candy.

What Perth restaurant do you keep going back to?

Sri Malacca. I keep pretending I'm vegetarian and the food is always good.
