Perth Glory has appointed Peter Filopoulos as its new chief executive, following Jason Brewer’s resignation in April.

Mr Filopoulos, who is currently chief commercial officer of Swimming Australia, was CEO of South Melbourne Football Club in the 1990s, and has also held senior roles at AFL.

Perth Glory sets the benchmark for what a football club should be during the NSL and now it’s time to get the Glory days back on and off the field, for the benefit of the game, the members and the fans,” Mr Filopoulos said.

“I want to be part of a Perth Glory that leaves its mark in history for the right reasons, to create an environment where everyone is left scrambling for a ticket at the gate.”

Chairman Tony Sage said the club had a direction, a structure and a vision to take it forward.

“I think Perth’s football community should be buoyed that we ahve acted swiftly to try to turn things around,” Mr Sage said.

Mr Brewer’s resignation came after the Football Federation of Australia banned Perth Glory from playing in the A-League finals earlier this year for breaching its salary cap.
