MMA Offshore has been selected by CSIRO to manage a research vessel in a contract anticipated to generate $80 million in revenue over four years.

As part of the contract, MMA Offshore is set to provide technical services, operational management and crew management for CSIRO’s research vessel Investigator.

The Perth-based company would utilise its in-house systems, maritime skills and expertise to deliver the works of the contract.

The 94-metre research vessel Investigator is part of the national research infrastructure Marine National Facility, which is funded by the federal government and managed by CSIRO.

Investigator was commissioned by CSIRO to conduct biological, oceanographic, geological and atmospheric research, in addition to the provision of maritime training, education and outreach activities.

MMA Offshore was awarded the contract to assist CSIRO with the research vessel’s operations for a period of four years, with the option to extend by three years twice.

MMA Offshore managing director David Ross said the company was pleased to be engaged by CSIRO for this contract.

“This contract award marks another major milestone in our diversification strategy with government services being a key target growth market for MMA,” Mr Ross said.

“We look forward to supporting CSIRO and the Marine National Facility in its ongoing strategy of delivering safe, efficient and high-quality marine research to benefit the nation.”
