Lindian hits uber-grade alumina numbers in Africa

Lindian Resources’ has thrown up some pulse quickening, ultra-high-grade alumina numbers at both the Bouba north and Bouba south extensions of the Bouba plateau at its Gaoual conglomerate bauxite project in Guinea, Africa. Three holes from Bouba North returned alumina grades between 50 and 54.4 per cent alumina with four holes at Bouba South grading even higher, between 54.9 and a super impressive 58.5 per cent alumina.

Lindian said all samples recovered from the extension drilling program have now been XRF analysed for alumina in the laboratory and both extensions have been confirmed as very high-grade conglomerate bauxite.

The company said the size of the resource has grown significantly but it has not given up any grade along the way.

Management said it was important to note that the conglomerate bauxite was logged from surface to the basal, unconformable contact across both extension areas.  Importantly there appears to be no cover in either area with the bauxite occurring immediately from surface in every hole drilled within the mineralised area.

Lindian will now undertake digestion test work in the coming weeks to determine the silica classification, but it expects the test results will be similar to those from the Bouba Plateau.

The goal is to discover a deposit that is high in total available alumina and low in reactive silica which can be a nuisance during processing.

Lindian Resources Managing Director, Shannon Green said: “Laboratory confirmation that these two new areas are verified to be very high-grade Conglomerate Bauxite is a brilliant outcome as this continues to build scale for this amazing project. Confirmation from the Independent Geological Expert that we are on track to deliver our inaugural JORC compliant resource statement before mid-year is a significant step towards the development of this incredible project.”

The company is on track to release its initial JORC compliant resource estimation before mid-year and with individual grades as high as 58.5 percent, the initial resource will no doubt be highly anticipated by the market.
