L7 gets into training space

L7 SOLUTIONS, an information technology and consulting company based in Perth, has launched a new training business on the back of a skills shortage in the local market and distressed companies looking to sell their assets.

The new business, L7 Training, was fast-tracked to cater for a skills shortage by acquiring purpose-built assets, training facilities, an existing WA client list, and renegotiation of a six-year lease of 1,044 square meters within Septimus Roe Square, from an undisclosed national corporate training centre.

Chief executive Matt Sullivan said the business premises and client list were acquired from a national corporate training provider based in the same building as L7 on Adelaide Terrace.

L7 Training will focus on IT skills development, professional development, effective management/leadership skills, project management and end-user computer training.

Mr Sullivan said a skills shortage became apparent two to three years ago and is closely linked to the boom in the resource and mining sector.

The company, he concedes, has been opportunistic in its acquisition of companies that are “battle weary from the GFC”.

He said the company would continue its niche acquisitions of facilities and client lists in the near future, citing a company it has acquired which is currently under administration that will be announced in the next two weeks.
