Former iiNet executive Maryna Fewster has been appointed acting chief executive of Seven West Media’s WA operations, following last Friday’s surprise announcement that John Driscoll would be stepping down from the role.

Ms Fewster joined Seven West one year ago as chief operating officer (WA) and prior to that worked at iiNet for over a decade, including as chief customer officer and chief operating officer.

Seven West has also announced that general manager – circulation & distribution Adam Everett has been appointed chief operating officer.

Chief executive Tim Worner said the group was fortunate to have Ms Fewster available to step straight into her new role.

“She has already had a huge impact since joining us in April last year, and we are looking forward to that continuing impact,” Mr Worner said.

Seven West’s WA operations include The West Australian and The Sunday Times newspapers, the PerthNow web site, nine radio stations, 20 regional newspapers and Channel Seven Perth.

Mr Driscoll departed Seven West just nine months after leaving advertising agency Marketforce to take up the tole.

In a statement last Friday, Seven West chairman Kerry Stokes said he had recently discussed with Mr Driscoll new additional responsibilities to the CEO role that would have required extensive travel.

"After further consultation and consideration, Mr Driscoll has, for family reasons, decided that he would not be able to accommodate the additional responsibilities," the statement said.
