GWR Group has confirmed a fatality involving one of its contractor’s trucks, which rolled over on Goldfields Highway yesterday while transporting iron ore to the Port of Geraldton.

The truck was carrying ore from GWR’s C4 mine, as part of the company’s broader Wiluna West operations, where works are being carried out by local contractors Pilbara Resource Group and Dynamic Drill and Blast.

GWR, chaired by Gary Lyons, did not disclose the contractor involved in the accident.

“Whilst no further details are available at this stage, GWR together with its contractor are assisting WA police and other authorities to determine the cause of this tragic accident,” GWR said in an ASX announcement.

“The company’s immediate thoughts are for the worker, their family and their team. It is our priority to ensure that support and assistance is being made available for the family and team.

“The company will advise the market once details are known.”
