CCI appoints new general council president

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA has appointed former University of Western Australia Business School dean Tracey Horton as president of its general council.

Ms Horton will also become the new chair of the CCI's board of directors.

Ms Horton is a non-executive director at a number of high profile companies, including Automotive Holdings Group, Skilled Group and Navitas.

She spent seven years as dean of the UWA Business School and has previously served as chair of Dorsogna Limited and more recently, vice president of the CCI general council.

Outgoing CCI chair and general council president John Atkins said Ms Horton would come to her new roles with an array of experience in a number of industries.

Seven West Media WA chief executive Chris Wharton has stepped down as vice president of the general council but will remain on the CCI board.

The general council has appointed high-profile Perth businessman John Langoulant and Savcor director Agu Kantsler as its vice presidents.

UWA deputy vice-chancellor Alec Cameron will also join the general council, while former Verve Energy managing director Shirley In't Veld has been apppointed to the CCI board.
