The state government has put out the call for builders to construct the $100 million train station for the new Perth Stadium.

The new station will comprise six platforms to facilitate the departure of up to 28,000 passengers within an hour of an event at the stadium.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the station would be built under an alliance arrangement, similar to the Perth City Link works.

Mr Nalder said construction would begin midway through next year with a scheduled completion of late 2017.

“This will provide enough time for testing of the facilities before the stadium and sports precinct opens for the start of the 2018 AFL season,” Mr Nalder said.

The design of the stadium, which was designed by international architecture firm HASSELL, was revealed earlier this month.
