Perth businesswoman Bronwyn Barnes has joined minerals explorer Black Mountain Resources as its interim chief executive, following the departure of Julian Ford earlier this month.

Ms Barnes will serve in the interim role on a part-time basis for three months, starting immediately.

She is an experienced board member, having served in both executive and non-executive capacities in the resources, fishing, indigenous, education and community sectors.

Ms Barnes is currently non-executive chair of local ASX-listed companies Indiana Resources and Auris Minerals, and also holds a director role at JC International Group.

She will receive $5,000 plus GST a month while she serves as interim CEO at Black Mountain.

“The appointment will support the board in reviewing opportunities to streamline operations at its Namekara vermiculite plant in Uganda and expanding operational and exploration capabilities,” Black Mountain said in a statement.

Ms Barnes’ appointment follows news earlier this month that Mr Ford had stepped down as CEO and chairman.

Simon Grant-Rennick was appointed interim chairman at the same time.

Black Mountain shares were unchanged at 3 cents each at midday.
