Perth companies Austal and Aquila Resources have bolstered their boards, with the recruitment of two prominent former executives.

Shipbuilder Austal has appointed former Monadelphous Group executive Giles Everist to its board, lifting his profile as one of Perth’s leading company directors.

Mr Everist is currently chairman of Decmil Group and a director at LogiCamms and Macmahon.

He was chief financial officer and company secretary of successful engineering contractor Monadelphous from 2003 to 2009.

Meanwhile, aspiring iron ore miner Aquila Resources has appointed former Gindalbie Metals managing director Tim Netscher to its board as an independent director.

It also announced the retirement of long-serving non-executive director and major shareholder Charles Bass.

Mr Bass said he looked forward to continuing his involvement with Aquila through his shareholding, with no plans to sell other than possibly for charitable purposes.

Mr Netscher worked at gold miner Newmont and iron ore miner Vale before joining Gindalbie.

He is also chairman of ASX listed uranium explorer Deep Yellow.
