What? ~ MyGuru provides an online marketplace and platform that links tutors who have recently excelled in a course with students currently taking that course.

MyGuru provides answers to student questions using course aligned video content and on-demand answers. Cofounder Chris Breidahl is currently enrolled in Perth’s Founder Institute.

Who? ~ Co-founders Chris Breidahl, Alexis Hall and Andrew Walker met while studying engineering at the University of Western Australia. Tom Van Beem (student engagement) and Ze'ev Gilovitz (software engineer) joined the team during the past year.

$ ~ Bootstrapped so far; there could be a capital raising in the near future. Students pay a subscription to use the service, and student tutors earn money by providing answers.

The Market ~ The founders have worked closely with UWA since 2013 to develop the service, with more than 6,000 of their students involved. On October 23 2015, MyGuru was launched for university students.

There are 42 tertiary institutions in Australia with about 1.3 million students. The online education industry is worth $5.2bn (IBISWorld).
