Our weekly appointments wrap includes Michael Parker, Garret Dixon, Brett Braithwaite, Sean Macfarlane, Stephen Rivers, Graeme Stephen, David Power, Mylon Manusiu, Kevin Deery, Justine Campbell, Susan Hunt and Greg Caust.

Executive vice president and president of alumina Michael Parker and executive vice president and president of bauxite Garret Dixon will depart Alcoa after a business restructure. Mr Parker joined Alcoa in 1994 and has held positions in Australia and the US. He is also chairman and managing director of Alcoa of Australia. Mr Dixon joined Alcoa in 2013 and has since worked as the Alcoa mining president and led the Global Mining Centre for Excellence.

Susan Hunt has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Lotterywest and Healthway. Ms Hunt has held both positions in an acting capacity since July 2017 and January 2018 respectively. From 2004 to 2017, she led the development of the World Zoo Animal Welfare Strategy where she helped transform Perth Zoo from a recreation facility to a wildlife conservation organisation.

Construction and engineering service provider Civmec has announced the appointment of David Power as its new executive general manager of manufacturing and Mylon Manusiu as its new executive general manager of maintenance. Kevin Deery will take the role of acting chief financial officer after Justine Campbell announced her resignation to pursue other interests, effective September 27.

Fraser's Events & Catering has announced the appointment of Brett Braithwaite as its new director of sales. Mr Braithwaite has over 20 years’ experience in hospitality working in five star hotel operations managing multiple outlets and overseeing events, in-house catering and sales. Mr Braithwaite will oversee all venues under the Fraser’s brand as well as the external catering arm of the business.

Legal services firm Lavan has announced the appointment of Sean Macfarlane as a special counsel in Lavan’s Property and Leasing team. Mr Macfarlane is a senior lawyer specialising in strata and property law, and was lead advisor in Parliament to the Minister for Lands during debate and passage of the Strata Titles Amendment Bill 2018 and the Community Titles Bill 2018. 

International energy consultancy Xodus Group has announced the appointment of Stephen Rivers as its subsea and pipelines manager for Asia-Pacific. Mr Rivers has more than 30 years in the oil and gas industry, with previous roles as an engineering director for Peritus International and senior vice president for INTECSEA in Australia and New Zealand.

Australian strategic metals company TNG has appointed Graeme Stephen to the newly-created role of titanium process manager. Mr Stephen has over 40 years’ experience in the global titanium dioxide industry and has served in a range of positions at Cristal Inorganic Chemicals including managing director in Switzerland in 2014 and site director for the Bunbury chloride plant in Australia in 2017.

The University of Western Australia has appointed Greg Caust as the Head of Faculty Service Delivery. Mr Caust will be responsible for the delivery of professional services to the university and developing strategic and operational priorities for the faculty. He was the deputy student manager at Murdoch University from 2018 to April this year, and is currently the deputy chair at Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
