Corporate and commercial lawyer Sevan Gore has been named a partner at Hall & Wilcox, to be based in its Perth office. Mr Gore recently worked on Santos’ $22 billion merger with Oil Search, and on IGO Limited’s $1.3 billion acquisition of Western Areas Limited. He joins from Herbert Smith Freehills, where his areas of expertise were equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions.

Former Fortescue Metals and Mitsui & Co executive Don Hyma will be joining Caravel Minerals as its managing director later this month. Prior to joining Caravel Minerals, Mr Hyma was recently the managing director at ASX-listed Australian Rare Earths Limited, based in Adelaide. He has been an advisor to the Caravel Minerals board on the Caravel Copper Project feasibility studies and implementation strategies for the past two years.

West Perth-based PKF Perth has appointed resources specialist Matthew Hall as its executive director of corporate finance. Mr Hall was previously a consultant at Chilwa Minerals. He has held a variety of advisory and consultancy roles include director at Eden Partners, corporate finance director at DJ Carmichael, and M&A and capital advisory senior manager at KPMG Singapore.

Writer Andrew Bovell has joined the Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA Board of directors. Bovell is a playwright and screenwriter with 30 years of experience. His works have been performed throughout the country and internationally, including Broadway and West End. Bovell’s works include award-winning play When the Rain Stops Falling and films including Strictly Ballroom and Lantana.

Putejurra woman and WA lawyer Kate George has been appointed as the chair of West Perth-based miner Ten Sixty Four. She will start as non-executive chair of the ASX-listed company on November 25. She was recently a managing director with PwC’s Indigenous consulting. Dr George is on the board of the federal government’s Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility and a director of Indigenous Business Australia Asset Management.

ASX-listed mining services company Emeco Holdings has announced Jim Gawith as its incoming chief executive for its underperforming Pit N Portal business. Mr Gawith will start the role in early 2023, focusing on improving the operating and risk management capability of the division. He is the vice president of Performance at Perenti and was previously general manager of growth at Barminco.
