Black Cat Syndicate has found its new chief financial officer in Nick Dwyer, an experienced CFO expected to take over the role following David Lim’s resignation. Mr Dwyer transitions from Mandalay Resources Corporation after nine years working as the Toronto Stock Exchange-listed gold company’s CFO. Mandalay operates mine sites in Australia, Sweden, Chile and Canada. Before this, Mr Dwyer held senior positions as head of accounting and senior group financial accountant for iron ore miner African Minerals.

Andrew Vinciullo has been appointed as partner for HopgoodGanim Lawyers, bringing more than 15 years’ experience to the law firm’s dispute resolution practice. Mr Vinciullo has advised clients in the construction, mining and resources sectors and has experience with commercial and corporate disputes. Mr Vinciullo previously completed a stint at HopgoodGanim, working as special counsel for five years until November 2018. After this, he worked as special counsel construction and dispute resolution for HFW for four years and most recently, as special counsel at Jackson McDonald for one year.

St John of God Health Care has onboarded three new executives to its leadership team, two of whom are based in Perth. Sarah Asmussen has been appointed as chief of staff, strategy and planning, and Janet Jones has elevated to be acting chief nursing officer. The health care provider has also appointed Melbourne-based Xavier Saldoni as chief risk officer, who is expected to travel to Perth on a regular basis for the role. Ms Asmussen’s and Mr Saldoni’s positions are newly-created roles for the health care organisation, aiming to enhance its safe and sustainable services. Ms Asmussen has transitioned from Catholic health care provider I-Med Radiology Network, where she worked as state manager for three years. Ms Jones has more than 30 years of nursing experience and will serve in the acting chief nursing officer role for up to nine months. She joins from St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals where she was director of nursing and midwifery.

Real estate agency Knight Frank has hired Matt Lutman as director office leasing for WA, bringing his 25 years of experience in property to the company's Perth-based office. Prior to this appointment, Mr Lutman was director tenant representation at JLL for nearly three years. He also served 14 years at Mirvac, first as property manager then as senior property manager based in Sydney before he moved to Perth in July 2013, taking up the role of portfolio manager. 

The Kwinana Industries Council has recruited university executive David Harrison to replace its long-serving director Chris Oughton. Mr Harrison commences today at the KIC, which represents about 50 industrial businesses across the Kwinana and East Rockingham industrial areas. Mr Oughton has stepped down from the role after 17 years.

Perenti has a new chair after Rob Cole resigned to join the board of national waste management company Cleanaway. He has been replaced by Diane Smith-Gander, who joined the Perenti board in October after it acquired drilling contractor DDH1, which she had chaired. She also chairs ASX-listed Zip Co, Committee for Economic Development of Australia and HBF Health.

South32 chief technical officer Vanessa Torres has been promoted to chief operating officer Australia, a position in which she would oversee South32’s manganese production, its Worsley Alumina site in WA, and Cannington site in Queensland. Filling the vacated chief technical officer role is Erwin Schaufler, formerly the Worsley Alumina vice president operations.
