Professional services provider GHD has recruited Carl Parlongo as Australian and New Zealand power transmission and distribution leader. Mr Parlongo has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in business development and project delivery for electricity transmission and distribution services. For nearly 10 years, he worked for global United States-based consulting company Jacobs, while based in Perth. Mr Parlongo started his career with Western Power, and has since, overseen delivery of services for power networks in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East and the UK.

Marius van der Merwe has joined accounting firm Pitcher Partners as executive director of business advisory and assurance. Mr van der Merwe brings more than 25 years of experience as a chartered accountant to the Perth office and has expertise in leading audit teams in Australia and South Africa. Mr van der Merwe has particular expertise working with financial service licence holders, not-for-profit organisations and local government bodies, and his most recent role was partner at Perth-based firm Dry Kirkness.

HHG Legal Group (HHG) has revealed a suite of appointments, including Riaan Piek as special counsel, and Alexandra Turner's promotion to senior associate for the dispute resolution team. Mr Piek specialises in commercial litigation law and joins the commercial litigation team at HHG, bringing his extensive experience from former roles as special counsel at Hale Legal, Citi, and INPEX. Ms Turner joined HHG in 2015 and rose from lawyer to associate to now be promoted to senior associate. She handles a variety of dispute resolution matters for individuals, local governments, large corporations and more.

Foodbank WA has appointed The Brand Agency chief executive Steve Harris and Deloitte Financial Advisory partner Nick Yeo as its newest non-executive board directors. Mr Harris has worked at The Brand Agency, which is the biggest advertising and branding agency in Western Australia according to Data and Insights, more than 20 years ago. His board experience extends across multiple sectors including as a director for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA and Healthway, as well as the AFL Fremantle Football Club president. The Brand Agency has been delivering pro bono work for Foodbank WA since 2012. Mr Yeo has worked as a partner for the Deloitte Financial Advisory for the past two years and has more than 16 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and management consulting in Australia and abroad.

Curtin University Council has onboarded zero2hero chief executive Ashlee Harrison to join the governing body of the university. The role would expand on Ms Harrison’s pre-exisiting work aiming to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people through education and empowerment. She founded not-for-profit zero2hero in 2009 to deliver educational events such as camps, workshops, school holiday clinics, cape2cape Treks, and training programs for primary school and high school students, corporate professionals and teachers.

Brisbane-based Lee Schofield is the newest addition to the HM Consolidated board, taking up the role of independent chair and director. HM Consolidated operates a variety of tourism and aviation businesses across Western Australia, such as Nexus Airlines, Aviair, HeliSpirit, Freshwater East Kimberley Apartments, Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge and Guided Tours Kimberley Experiences. Mr Schofield brings more than 20 years of aviation experience to the company, including his current position as Life Flight Australia chief operating officer. He previously served at Alliance Airlines for more than a decade in several roles including chief operating officer and chief executive.
