Our weekly appointments wrap includes Nicola Watts, David MacLean, Charlotte Wallace, Robert Kaplan, Geoff Eyre, Phillip Fox, Dave Kelly, Peter Tinley and Chris Tallentire. 

O'Sullivan Davies Lawyers has named Nicola Watts as a new partner. Ms Watts joined the firm in July 2018, after working in family law for 25 years at Leach Legal, Paterson & Dowding Family Lawyers & Mediators and Septimus Jones & Lee Solicitors. She is Western Australia’s Executive Member of Family Law at the Law Council of Australia. 

The District Court of Western Australia has appointed David MacLean and Charlotte Wallace as judges of the District Court. Mr MacLean is the first Aboriginal judge to be appointed in WA. He has experience in civil and criminal litigation and has worked for the Aboriginal Legal Service. Ms Wallace is a full time legal member of the State Administrative Tribunal and is in charge of human rights and building disputes jurisdictions. 

Robert Kaplan will join the team at Pensana Metals as chief financial officer and company secretary. Mr Kaplan is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the African mining sector. He joins Pensana from Petra Diamonds where he worked as finance manager corporate and head of treasury. 

Adriatic Metals has appointed Geoff Eyre as chief financial officer and Phillip Fox as chief geologist. Mr Eyre most recently worked as chief financial officer at Avesoro Resources and has previously worked as the chief executive at Amlib Holdings. Mr Fox, who was a project manager at Toachi Mining in Ecuador, will be based in Vares.

WA Premier Mark McGowan has made some minor adjustments to portfolios within his cabinet. Fisheries will become the responsibility of Minister Peter Tinley who is also in charge for housing, veteran’s issues and Asian engagement. Minister Dave Kelly, who is responsible for water, forestry, innovation and ICT and science will assume control of the youth portfolio. Chris Tallentire will continue as parliamentary secretary to Mr Kelly under his updated portfolio responsibility.
