Kirstin Stewart has started as partner in Private Business Tax & Advisory at advisory firm Grant Thornton’s Perth office. Ms Stewart has more than 20 years of experience advising clients in business operations, including in accounting, income taxation and relevant legislation. She was previously a partner at accounting and consulting firm HLB Mann Judd, where she had been for 18 years.

Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA chief executive Rebecca Tomkinson has been appointed to the Crown Perth’s Burswood Entertainment Limited board. Ms Tomkinson also serves on the Board of Infrastructure WA, as chair of the Wheatbelt Development Commission, and as president of the WA State Advisory Council at CEDA. Prior to joining CMEWA, Ms Tomkinson was the CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service WA.

Globe Metals & Mining Limited has hired Charles Altshuler as its chief financial officer, succeeding Michael Fry who has been at the company for seven years. Mr Altshuler has more than 18 years of experience as a chartered accountant. Prior to Globe, Mr Altshuler was the CFO at One Stop Warehouse. He was also the CFO at ASX-listed pharmaceuticals company AusCann until April.

Former state politician Clive Brown will lead the South West Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub steering group as the chair. Mr Brown was a minister in the Gallop Government, responsible for the State Development, Tourism and Small Business portfolio. He was a director at CI Resources, and served as the chairman of the company’s subsidiary Phosphate Resources, until his retirement in 2019.

Jason Giltay has stepped up to be the chief financial officer at mineral resource company TNG Limited, where he has been since 2018. Mr Giltay started at TNG as a commercial general manager before moving up to commercial & corporate development general manager. Prior to joining TNG, he was the business development manager at Perth Airport.

Property consultant firm Knight Frank Australia has welcomed Adam Stubbings as its senior building consultant and Lewis Otton as its project manager. Mr Stubbings joins Knight Frank from Primmer Olds B.A.S in England while Mr Otton joins from Zenith Interiors in Perth. The two appointments add to the growing project management and building consultancy team at Knight Frank WA.

The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies council has elected Regis Resources chief executive Jim Beyer as its new president, following the unexpected death of Peter Bradford. Mr Beyer has been AMEC’s vice president for the past four years and has been part of the association’s executive council for more than six years. He is also the managing director at the ASX-listed gold producer Regis Resources.

Former cricketer Avril Fahey has made history as the first woman to chair the Western Australian Cricket Association board after unanimous support from members. Director Tom Percy has also been elected as deputy chair. Fahey has been acting as interim chair for the past few months, but has been part of the WACA board since 2014. She was the first WA cricketer to play 150 matches for the state.
