$1m bar at former Northbridge nightclub site

Three experienced figures from WA's property and hospitality sectors will revamp a derelict Northbridge nightclub into an "intimate" $1 million bar.

Architect Barry Baltinas and Baltinas’ project manager Rebecca Frost have joined forces with small bars operator Gary Beadle to open Margot’s Bar & Cellar Door on William Street.

The trio are the directors of Margot’s Pty Ltd, a private company registered in mid-2021 to operate Margot’s Bar.

The project site is on the northern end of William Street in Northbridge, near an intersection with Robinson Avenue, and was home to the now-closed Tetsuo nightclub.

Construction is due to finish in June, with a liquor licence application already lodged with the Department of local government, sport and cultural industries.

According to the liquor licence application, the venue would only be able to accommodate 100 patrons.

Baltinas said Margot’s was meant to be a specialist bar paying homage to premium wines, small batch spirits, craft beers and non-alcoholic beverages only grown and produced in WA.

“In these tough and uncertain times for our home-grown producers, we seek to support and provide them with a dedicated opportunity to get their wonderful wares to the community through us as their Perth conduit and cellar door,” he said.

“Architecturally, we’re also very excited to put the spotlight on our feature bar. Completely clad in WA’s distinct Pilbara red marble, which nature took millions of years to create, it captures the earthly essence of that breathtaking region.”

An alfresco parklet is also planned to accompany the small bar.
