Wilson secures NSW foothold

PERTH-based parking and security group Wilson has further bolstered its operations by acquiring Sydney-based business, City Eastern Security. The deal comes just two months after Wilson bought Dampier’s Shelf Security, its fourth Western Australian security company purchase in the past two years. Wilson Security CEO John McMellan said the NSW purchase would further strengthen the company’s presence in the state and deliver a number of high-profile corporate contracts including Westpac and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. “It will add to our fleet of patrol vehicles and allow us to expand into the patrol market in Sydney,” he said. Wilson’s bolt-on acquisitions are part of a period of planned strategic growth, under which it has bought established WA security players Westsure, Deltaline, NGS, and MSA. Mr McMellan said Wilson’s strength was in identifying strong examples of operational or process initiatives in the businesses it acquired “We don’t approach the integration thinking we can’t learn from a smaller company. We retain key staff in all our acquisitions and replicated these observations into our broader business processes,” he said.
