Perth civil and construction company Whittens has signed a $25 million contract with NRW for concrete works at the Roy Hill mine site in the Pilbara.

Whittens director Tyron Whitten said the the contract reinforced the long-standing relationship the company had developed with NRW and expanded its presence at Roy Hill.

“This upcoming project will require a workforce of approximately 90 people at its peak, and we anticipate it will take around seven months to complete,” he said.

The scope of the works includes three ROM walls and coarse ore stockpile tunnels and vaults, with a combined total of approximately 16,000 cubic metres of concrete.

Whittens recently collaborated with NRW on Rio Tinto’s Brockman 4 iron ore project in the Pilbara.

It is also managing several other projects around Australia, including a $50 million concrete construction contract at Roy Hill for BGC, and a $15.5 million contract at the Boggabri coal handling and processing plant in New South Wales for Thiess Sedgman JV.
