Dawson Bradford has retired as chair of the Western Australian Meat Marketing Co-operative (WAMMCO) after 15 years in the role. Mr Bradford will continue on as a director for another term. He was one of the nine directors appointed by the state government in 1999 to manage the merger of the Statutory Meat Marketing Corporation with the meat processing operations of Metro Meat International. Mr Bradford became chair of the cooperative in December 2000. He has also made contributions to improving WA’s sheep breeding standards. His Hillcroft Poll Dorset stud at Popanyinning remained a national leader until sold in 2014, and he is now focused on developing a new meat breeding sheep he calls the Ultra White. Mr Bradford received an honorary doctorate from Murdoch University in 2010 as recognition of his contribution to the livestock industry, and in 2014 was inducted into the Western Australian Royal Agricultural Society hall of fame.
